Migrate the operational starting point
The cockpit supports the initial data needed to begin operations: balances and eligible open transactions. For purchase orders, the migration object is explicitly for open POs; it is not a mechanism for rebuilding full PO history.
Orders with follow-on documents cannot simply be treated as clean open documents. Decide in the source whether partially processed documents should be completed, closed, cancelled, or represented through another approved cutover design.
- Extract only the residual open quantity and value approved at cutoff.
- Load required suppliers, materials, plants, purchasing data, and other dependencies first.
- Avoid recreating receipts or invoices merely to imitate historical document flow.
Reconcile stock in business dimensions
Inventory acceptance requires both quantity and value checks. Reconcile by the dimensions that drive operations and valuation, such as company code, plant, storage location, material, batch, stock type, and valuation area where applicable.
Investigate timing differences and postings during freeze windows rather than forcing totals to match with unexplained adjustments.
